About
About JAPAN TRAVEL
JAPAN TRAVEL is an independently operated publication covering practical, ground-level information for people visiting Japan — connectivity (SIM/eSIM/pocket Wi-Fi), transit (rail passes vs. individual tickets), where to stay, and how to pay. It is run by a single operator with an AI-assisted production pipeline.
Editorial policy
Articles are written to be immediately usable by someone planning or currently on a trip: concrete comparisons, current prices where we can source them, and no filler. We avoid unverifiable superlatives ("best," "must-do") without a stated basis, and every article published carries a plain-language reading of any comparison it makes.
Where an article links to a paid offer (a card, an eSIM plan, a tour, etc.), that is disclosed inline as "PR" next to the link — never hidden in a generic "resources" list.
How we use AI
We are upfront about this rather than pretending a large newsroom writes every page:
- Drafting. Article research and first drafts are produced with AI assistance, from a brief the operator sets for each topic.
- Automated compliance screening. Before any draft can be reviewed, it runs through an automated check for prohibited or misleading claims (for example, absolute/guaranteed-outcome language). Drafts that fail this check are held back, not published.
- Human review before publishing. New articles are saved as unpublished drafts by default. A human (the site operator) reviews a draft and decides whether it goes live — nothing is generated and published automatically without that step.
This disclosure applies to every article on this site, in addition to the AI-disclosure line shown in the footer of each page.
